Opening our series of event reviews, Future In Sound headed to Leicester on Friday night to take part into a night of full-bringing house music. Some House sounds very different from your usual taste: soul and funk vocals, garage synthesis and old school basses mixed into 2012′ House music. Supplying the crowds with pure underground music, which varied in both range and culture, each artist successfully took the basement of the Sophbeck into a musical journey.
Deep House, dub, garage-like, old school and even 125 bpm house/techno, the motion kept the dancefloor busy til the very last minute, credit going to JONNA for superbly closing the night! JON BROOKS & CECIL opened up and set the first lucky heads onto the right mood. HOHLE and DENNISON followed with genuine incredible sets which got the crowd on its toes, readying themselves for the main act. JAMES JOHNSTON finally took the full Sophbeck crew into a little tour off planet Earth. Building tracks with thorough technique but pure creative thinking, his two hours set rocked the place! All the more, we had the chance to witness two great MC’s who fully improvised additional vocals through the night, adding pure thrills and even more power to the music. A relentless uplifting atmosphere in a somewhat perfect basement off King Street in central Leicester. The London scene topping easily Leicester’s, this night was something you’d expect to come across on RA’s recommended events of the week for London..
